xhesikaI've been writing faster than I can name chapters. Both an amazing and frustraiting thing. I feel alive when I write, I love it. Even better now that the story is picking up quick.
Of course I'm having to force myself even more to write chronologically, I gave in a little and skipped up to the first time Kamen calls out Van Dean on his bullshit. Van Dean of course lets Kamen know exactly how the unification was broken, and contrary to what he says, he is well aware of who Artemis was talking about.
"Unification is broken. I ought to take what's mine now and be done with it. Wouldn't you say it's kind of me to allow this charade to continue?" Kamen identified the tone immediately; when directed at Artemis he had heard its slithering coo, but he could hear its unearthly music even more now that it was directed towards him. "That Clovis could, for another day, believe that their beloved Dauphine has followed the unification to the letter?"
He held his expression fast, "You have no proof."
"I don't need proof. She's no liar. She'd confess to it as soon as you ask her." Kamen turned from him, still fuming from what he had seen and not wanting to see the man that had caused it. The voice resonating in his ears would need only to offer the forbidden fruit for him to bite into it, and the very thought of that power made Kamen feel sick. "She fell for someone while away. From the beginning she was against me." Van Dean furrowed his brow at the lack of respect from the man whose back was still turned to him. His voice was quite frank now, as if bored with his own song, "You knew her then, didn't you? It was your family she lived with, wasn't it?" There it was, he wasted no time in using the vital information he had squeezed from the pet. "You wouldn't happen to know the fellow?"
Kamen turned his head to look back at Van Dean, "You've nothing to worry about. He's dead."
