Its entirely because of Kamen too, I decided from the start that Victor, like Nancy, would be a modernized version of his old self. With Nancy it was easy, she's actually a mixture of two, maybe three of my friends. Victor is different because he's upperclass and young, so I'm ending up with something that is dangerously close to Van Dean.

It seems to taper off quite a bit once Kamen is back in the picture.

Chloe is supposed to be some random girl Victor brought home for the night, and the dilemma in the morning is that he's fired the butler who usually told them to GTFO. So guess who gets to mess with her?

"Doesn't it bother you to know you look just like his dead girlfriend?" Rei pleasantly cocked his head to one side and then pursed his lips, "Well your face is fatter, and your eyes aren't the same. He never got sick of her either."

Chloe rolled her eyes and looked back at the tray of cuff-links sitting on the dresser, "I'll wait for Vic, thanks much."

Rei bit the inside of his mouth and ran two fingers through the girl's hair and smiled when she turned to him in anger, "What? Aren't you a whore?" He laughed slightly, "You're right, I don't do leftovers anyways."

Because taking leftovers from Kamen is like eating the cone once someone else has eaten the sundae...except this is a person. Wow, now I feel like a douche for that simile. But Chloe is like one of those characters that you kill off to keep the story interesting and then you later find out that they were actually important. Okay that makes it worse.

I did that with a 4 year old in the original. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Beginnings of a douche conversaition started by Rei (haven't done much more than this):

"Knowing Denican he'll probably end up waxing his head anyways."

"This is Denican Sargasso you're talking about, right?"

I ran across this bit reciently and laughed. All I had to do was add a few words and I could answer the question that seems to be raised about Rei and how he got his job.

"I went in front of Parliament once." He held up a single finger, "Once. It was the single most unnerving experience of my life. They poked and prodded me for hours and then told Nora that they had no idea how the hell I got so far in the ranks to begin with."

Kamen stifled a laugh and pushed his next question out with the understanding that Parliament's reaction to Rei seemed to be the general opinion, "What did you tell them?"

"That I hated them. Although in retrospect I could have said anything and they probably still would have come to the same conclusion.

Since Kamen seems to be the butt of everyone's jokes anyways,

The man in the mirror pounded on the glass, breaking from the movement of its master. The scar traced along his face from just across his nose along his right cheekbone. It was the man from the picture, the man whom he resembled so closely, in a fit of rage and ordering him to "fuck the police" and comply.

The image subsided after Victor covered the man's face with a hand, but something remained in the reflection. The scar was old, but the blood was fresh, and the old mark had resurfaced on the face of the one who had returned from death.

The feeling in his legs was gone, the weight on his chest had become heavier. The weapon on the bed had a name, Necrosis, and it was responsible for that unearthly sound of metal scraping against glass that held fast in his head next to the voice of the man in the mirror, still screaming for the woman in the café across the street.

The telephone was in his hand after a struggle with his stomach, "Rei, you sick son of a bitch." He could hear Pitch in the background, carrying on over god knew what, nothing else mattered to him at that moment.

"Victor?" Rei's voice was muddled by confusion on the other line as the background noise settled down.

"Artex is a lie."

The smile seemed to come from the other side with his words, "That's right."

Then there's this, but it still needs a little work, as does much of the stuff I've posted so far, but this is what I've been working on for the most part. None of the really neat stuff though, have to save all that for later.

"Kamen?" Nancy called through the apartment upon her return, "You still here?"

His voice came from the sofa, surprising his host, "Right here. Shouldn't you be at work?"

"Amy called, her son is with his father today." She didn't expect him to care about the names, it was more of an attempt to cause him to lose interest and return to his nap.

"Henry?" His voice piqued with uncharacteristic interest.

"Are you stalking my students now too? Besides, shouldn't you be off working?" It was a half-hearted question; she was curious as to what he found to occupy himself, however she had come to expect his stoicism.

"My work never ends."

"Oh really," Her voice became panicked once she had come close enough to the back of the couch to see him laying on the cushions. There was a hole in his shoulder poorly covered with gauze that he had gotten out of the bathroom cabinet, "Oh my god!" He seemed interested in her concern until she spoke once more, "You aren't bleeding on my sofa, are you?"

Kamen bit the inside of his cheek, "You care more about the couch than the towels, yes?"

Her eyes widened in panic and saddened surprise, "Not my towels!"

He called behind her as she rushed to check the bathroom, which was of course, not covered in his type AB, "I'm fine by the way."

Also working on a few illustrations, one of the more pressing is of a trip to the astral that I am not going to post on here, its one of those too juicy things. Hopefully with my next two days off I'll be able to turn one or two things out.
